The number of internationally trained practitioners arriving to work in Australia is rising back to pre-pandemic levels, supporting a surge in graduates and bolstering the nation’s largest-ever health workforce.
In the first three months of 2022-23, new applications for International Medical Graduate registration have risen by 56 percent.
To support this surge, Ahpra (the registration board for health practitioners in Australia) has made some changes to their application process by cutting the time taken to request additional information from 4 weeks to just 7 days!
More than 60% of applications still need vital information. The process of gaining registration can be challenging to follow and needs to be clarified. A request for further information can delay applications up to 3-4 weeks.
To ensure your application is complete, it is vital to carefully work through each section of the form and attach all required documents. Some of the more common requests for more information coming through are for: certified copies, name change or spelling discrepancies in names, proof of internship, evidence of IELTS and payment information.
Our team at Hospital Staff Solutions have a wealth of knowledge regarding the process, having worked in this space for 15 years. Please feel free to contact one of our team members for further information.
